JUNE

RETREAT

A Weekend with Punnadhammo Bhikkhu

Weekend: June 1st-3rd
The most unique aspect of Buddhism is the teaching of anattā – that there is nothing which is absolutely and eternally who we are. Recognizing this truth frees us from the burden of self-attachment and results in boundless joy; however, it is exceptionally difficult and subtle. Ajahn Puṇṇadhammo, a senior monk from the Thai Forest Tradition, will guide us through methods of developing anattā-saññā – the direct perception of not-self.

RETREAT

A Weekend with Ayya Medhanandi

Weekend: June 8th-9th
A political radical often seeks drastic changes to transform a whole social system. A spiritual radical tirelessly works to discover ultimate truth in herself. Our spiritual imperative is to transform our inner ‘system’ for the sake of realizing our highest potential – for the benefit of all. Join Ayyā Medhānandī, who has been a Buddhist nun for 30 years, in an exploration of the heart of a true radical.

RETREAT

Contemplation of Death

Weekend: July 13th-15th
Do you ever take the time to think about death? Yours and your loved ones? Most people would emphatically say no, and so they live in fear and dread throughout their lives, seeking to avoid any thought or encounter with death and its close companions, old age and sickness. Cultivating and living with a mindfulness of death does the opposite of what one might expect. Instead fear and sadness, it cultivates peace, acceptance, compassion, and a drive to live your life in a way that is the most beneficial to you and others, for as long as you have left. The Buddha said that mindfulness of death is of great benefit, come spend the weekend with Bhante J facing your fears, because beyond those fears is freedom.
