Cultivation of this mindstate is a critical element of Buddhist practice – so during this weekend Bhante Suddhāso will explain the relationship between equanimity and awakening, and provide practical guidance on incorporating it into our practice.

Karma – the process of action, cause, and result – is the central subject of the Buddha’s teachings. The Ten Fetters with Ven. Pamutto
Weekend: Feb 2nd-4th
Our basic condition is like a blindfolded person being tugged around by a leash. The Buddha’s teachings give us the tools necessary to remove the blindfold and sever that leash, so that we may finally experience wisdom and peace. Ven. Pamutto will spend the weekend leading us in meditation practices and Sutta study sessions that will help us make progress towards this lofty goal..

INSIDE AND OUT With Ven. Pamutto
Saturday Feb 10th
We think we know what our body is – but do we really? Ven. Pamutto, a wandering monk, will lead us in an investigation of the true nature of the body, using meditation techniques drawn from the Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna sutta: mindfulness of body components and contemplation of the four elements.
STILLNESS & MOTION With Ven. Pamutto
Sunday Feb 11th
Buddhism encourages us to be fully aware at all times, in every activity – not just during meditation. So on this day we’ll be practicing mindfulness in both stillness and motion, with Buddhist meditation led by Ven. Pamutto interspersed with periods of yoga.
STILL NEVERMINDING With David Listen
Weekend: Feb 16th-18th
A 3-day Intensive Chan Meditation Retreat. On this intensive retreat, free from the distractions of daily life, you will come directly face-to-face with your “self.” With the support of the strict regulations and sustained practice, you’ll become confronted with your own habits and preferences, and realize that they are the sources of your suffering. If you stick to the methods and concepts of the practice, you’ll have the chance to experience freedom and ease of body and mind, by letting go of these burdens and relaxing into the present moment of “Never-mind”.
TRUSTING THE MIND with Rev. Phoebe
Weekend: Feb 23rd-25th
“The Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences.” So begins the Hsin-Hsin Ming, a Dharma poem attributed to the sixth century Chan master Chien-Chih Seng-Tsan. This short 2-page teaching is revered as one of the most direct and lucid explanations of Chan practice, and will serve as the basis for Rev. Phoebe’s instructions over the course of the retreat.
VASTNESS OF MIND with Khenmo Drolma
10-Day: Mar 9th-18th
Deep practice is the wellspring of peace, and the basis of peace is wisdom. In this retreat, we will be practicing shamatha/vipassana meditation as well as studying and reciting the Heart Sutra. The Heart Sutra lays out the ground, path, and fruition of Mahayana Buddhist philosophy; with this sutra as the basis, we will explore the vastness of our minds – the peaceful, compassionate spaciousness that is our true nature.

Calling all meditators who want to write and writers who want to meditate – you don’t have to choose!
